Chair – UVA School of Architecture Associate or Full Professor (Tenured)

The University of Virginia School of Architecture is seeking an accomplished designer and experienced educator to lead our highly-ranked Department of Architecture and participate in the School’s innovative teaching and creative research. The new chair will be an advocate for progressive design and the pursuit of research excellence in the field of Architecture. As the head of one of the School’s four disciplinary areas—Architecture, Architectural History, Landscape Architecture, and Urban and Environmental Planning—the Architecture Department Chair will contribute to the School’s national and international reputation by advancing and building upon the unique strengths and accomplishments of its graduate and undergraduate programs, supporting its ongoing growth, and participating across the entire School of Architecture to facilitate new cross-disciplinary curricular initiatives including the interdisciplinary PhD program. Candidates for this position should have experience in academic leadership, a commitment to excellence, and a demonstrated record of distinction in professional practice and/or design research, scholarship, and teaching. The qualifications of the candidate should be consistent with a tenured appointment at the level of an Associate or Full Professor, with a terminal degree in architecture (MArch.) or equivalent advanced graduate degree.
