Position Description
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (CEEES) at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for multiple open-rank faculty positions in Innovative Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Systems.
Successful candidates are expected to develop internationally recognized and externally funded research programs, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in construction engineering and management, mentor students, and contribute to collaborative research within the Department, across the University, and with industry and government partners.
Focus Areas:
- Intelligent, Autonomous, and Geospatial Construction Systems: Construction robotics, autonomous equipment, geomatics, sensing, reality capture, computer vision, digital twins, cyber-physical systems, and AI-enabled construction planning/operations.
- Future Construction and Infrastructure Systems: Advanced and automated construction methods, industrialized/off-site/additive construction, productivity, sustainability, workforce transformation, safety, and human-AI collaboration.
- Construction and Infrastructure in Complex Environments: Innovative approaches to constructing and adapting infrastructure in dense urban, constrained, remote, extreme, and extraterrestrial environments.

Qualifications
- For Assistant Professor: Must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree (or ABD) in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- For Associate Professor or Professor: Must hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, or a closely related field.
