

Assistant Professor of Architecture (History, Theory and Criticism), Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Architecture (Technology), Lecturer of Architecture, and Part-time and Limited Term Faculty Positions in Architecture
Position Description
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as 1) Assistant Professor of Architecture (History, Theory and Criticism), 2) Assistant Professor or Associate Professor(Technology), 3) Lecturer of Architecture, and 4) Part-time and Limited Term Faculty Positions in Architecture in the Department of Architecture with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Qualifications
Responsibilities for Assistant Professor of Architecture (History, Theory and Criticism)
- Deliver high-quality instruction in architecture courses at the undergraduate level in the area of History, Theory and Criticism, and teaching Architecture Studio at any level.
- Engage in significant research, scholarship, and/or creative activities in an area of specialization. Faculty members are expected to develop and sustain a robust research agenda that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and practice in their chosen field.
- Participate in department, college, and/or university service activities.
- Collaborate with students and colleagues and contribute to a positive and productive academic environment.
Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor of Architecture (History, Theory and Criticism)
- An earned Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Architecture, or a related discipline is required at the time of hire.
- OR, A terminal Master’s degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Architecture or a related discipline and three years of demonstrated academic experience in the area of specialization is required at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications for Assistant Professor of Architecture (History, Theory and Criticism)
- Professional Architectural Registration
- A record of successful teaching in Architecture Studio and in an area of specialization
- Evidence of strong record of scholarship including an active research and publication agenda
- Post-doc experience
- Prior success in obtaining extramural funding

- Deliver high-quality instruction in architecture courses at the undergraduate level, including Architecture Studio, as well as in at least one of the following areas of specialization: 1) Environmental Systems & Building Performance, 2) Digital Architecture, Computational Design, Fabrication, 3) Material Innovation, or 4)Robotic Construction
- Engage in significant research, scholarship, and/or creative activities in an area of specialization: Faculty members are expected to develop and sustain a robust research agenda that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and practice in their chosen field.
- Participate in department, college, and/or university service activities: The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive and productive academic environment.
Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (Technology)
- An earned Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Architecture or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
- OR, A terminal Master’s degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Architecture (M.Arch) or a closely related discipline AND Professional Architectural Registration is required at the time of hire.
- AND, Record of past teaching in Architecture Studio and an area of specialization
- AND, Demonstrated evidence of scholarship and/or creative activities
Preferred Qualifications for Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (Technology)
- Environmental Systems & Building Performance: Focus on sustainable design, building systems integration, and the optimization of energy and environmental performance in architectural projects.
- Digital Architecture, Computational Design, Fabrication: Specialization in the use of digital tools, computational methods, and advanced fabrication techniques to explore innovative architectural design processes.
- Material Innovation: Research and development in new materials, sustainable alternatives, and advanced material applications that push the boundaries of architectural design and construction.
- Robotic Construction: Exploration and implementation of robotic technologies in the construction process, including automation, robotics-driven fabrication, and the future of building technology.

- A minimum of a Master’s degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Architecture at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications for Lecturer of Architecture
- PhD, or the foreign equivalent, in Architecture or a closely related discipline
- Architecture licensure/registration
- A record of successful teaching in Architecture Studio
- Record of professional architecture practice
