The Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position beginning Fall 2017.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture

Responsibilities

The School of Architecture (SoA) seeks candidates with the capacity for leadership in architectural design, specifically in the areas of computational design and fabrication, robotics and/or materials research. Candidates are expected to build on the legacy of the Georgia Tech School of Architecture as a leader in these fields and contribute to near and next generation design technology research. Through teaching and research, the successful candidate will be expected to conduct interdisciplinary work with faculty from other disciplines within the College of Design and across campus, including computing, robotics, and material science, and will be given support in making these connections. In addition, tenure-track faculty have the opportunity to work with SoA Ph.D. research faculty and students on projects of common interest. Teaching responsibilities include an undergraduate or graduate design studio and seminar or workshop in the area of computational design and/or material research each semester. SoA faculty have the opportunity to teach and conduct design research utilizing the full resources of the College of Design, including our Digital Fabrication & Robotics Laboratory that houses a suite of industrial-scale CNC machines.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a terminal degree of a Master of Architecture or better. Teaching and/or professional experience in computationally driven architectural design for a minimum of three years is a requirement. Experience in digital fabrication and robotics is preferred.

Salary

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

School of Architecture

The School of Architecture is one of five schools in the College of Design. Other schools include Building Construction, City and Regional Planning, Industrial Design, and Music. The SoA offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Architecture, along with specialized M.S. degrees in Digital Design and Fabrication, High Performance Buildings, and Design and Health.
