Tenure-Track Position in Environmental Building Systems
The Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design seeks applicants for tenure-track faculty position(s) in environmental building systems, environmental technology, sustainability, high-performance buildings, or building science at the Blacksburg campus. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to both research and to the culture of a design school. The ideal candidate will engage in rigorous inquiry and teach technical competence to students–while also either teaching a design studio or engaging students in design thinking within the environmental building systems lecture course sequence.

The architecture programs at Virginia Tech emphasize student-centered experimentation and cross-disciplinary hands-on learning. The ideal candidate will see no inherent conflict between teaching and research, and see no rivalry between building science and design studio instruction.

The School is especially eager to attract diverse faculty with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are on a quest to build a program that accelerates university education towards practices accessible to everyone, that proactively makes meaningful impacts and contributions to well-being, and that brings beauty and delight to our everyday lives. As a large program, we have a responsibility and opportunity to make a difference in the architecture profession. People of all backgrounds will be welcomed here.
