Open Rank Faculty Position in Environmental Resilience and Equity

The University of Virginia seeks applicants for an Open Rank-tenure/tenure track position in the broad area of “smart cities and landscapes” as part of a cluster hire in environmental resilience being coordinated through the pan-university Environmental Resilience Institute (https://eri.virginia.edu/).

Candidates working in this area who are focused on the environmental racism dimensions of cities and landscapes will be given highest priority. This multi-year cluster hire is focused on the development and growth of a group of transdisciplinary scholars working together to tackle persistent socio-environmental problems in Virginia and beyond. It is expected that the successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Data Science or the School of Architecture. Applicants must have a PhD by the time of appointment, a record of excellence in research, as appropriate for the candidate’s rank, a commitment to teaching excellence, and a commitment to the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Tenured appointments require documented excellence in research and teaching, and an emerging national reputation. Successful applicants are expected to establish an internationally recognized research group. The successful applicant will have a track record of interdisciplinary work.
