1. Teaching Assistant Professor in Architecture (3 Positions)

Position Description

The Department of Architecture invites applications for three full-time, non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor positions starting August 2026. This is a 9-month appointment.

The successful candidates will teach in Design Studio with a related area of topical focus within the five-year Undergraduate Professional Bachelor of Architecture curriculum.

Focus Areas: Candidates should contribute to a curricular framework through one of the following areas:

  1. Foundation Design
  2. Material Technologies
  3. Environmental Technologies
  4. Critical Practice
  5. Housing
  6. Purpose-driven Design-build
  7. A self-defined area of specialization

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in architecture (M.Arch) from an accredited institution conferred by the start of employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and/or coordinate design studio in the undergraduate Professional B.Arch Program.
  • A recognized body of creative work, active scholarship, or professional/creative practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-professional education in architecture or an allied discipline.
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching in studios, lectures, and seminars.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Licensed or pursuing professional licensure.

2. Teaching Assistant Professor in Interior Architecture and Design (2 Positions)

Position Description

The Department of Interior Architecture and Design invites applications for two full-time, nine-month Teaching Assistant Professor positions. These are 1-year fixed-term appointments with the potential for renewal and a structured promotion system.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct 18–22 credit hours per academic year (typically two studios, or one studio and two lectures/seminars per semester).
  • Lead innovative and transdisciplinary approaches to teaching, create curriculum material, and advise students.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal graduate degree in interior design, interior architecture, or a design-related discipline from an accredited institution conferred by the start of employment.
  • Excellent body of creative design work.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with emerging technologies, digital fabrication, BIM, VR, AI, and/or visualization.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach digitally integrated and comprehensive design studios.
  • Professional practice experience designing interior space.
  • NCIDQ certification (or willingness to complete the exam).
