Position Description

The College of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) seeks highly motivated applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of architecture structures and design. The college is looking for candidates versed in the discipline of architecture with a record of combining structural integration in the design studio with a design research agenda in structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach at least one undergraduate core lecture in structural mechanics and/or optimization.
  • Teach architecture design studio courses that integrate and apply structures within practice.
  • Contribute to an innovative design research curriculum that balances experimentation and innovation with professional and environmental responsibility.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Professional degree in architecture (B.Arch or foreign equivalent) and a graduate degree.
  2. OR Terminal professional degree in architecture (M.Arch or foreign equivalent).
  3. OR Ph.D. in architecture or a field related to design and the built environment with an undergraduate or graduate studio-based architecture design education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognized record of accomplishment in creative activity, scholarship, and/or grant-funded research in structures and design.
  • Experience teaching architectural design studios (as demonstrated in the portfolio).
  • Professional licensure in architecture or a related field.
  • Experience applying research focus to creative work or teaching.
  • Experience developing and implementing programs, services, and/or courses designed to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse university community.
