

Position #1: Assistant Professor, Architecture and Structural Design
Position Description
The Department of Architecture in the School of Architecture at FIU invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor of Architecture and Structural Design beginning August 13, 2026.
This appointment focuses on research and teaching of structures and design studios at both undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily within the professional Master of Architecture program. The successful candidate will maintain research that bridges architectural design and engineering principles while teaching core and advanced courses.
Responsibilities:
- Advance the field through peer-reviewed research, publication, and creative work.
- Bring innovative approaches to teaching and engage students through hands-on learning, critical thinking, and emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Engineering, or equivalent international degrees in Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience: University teaching experience and expertise in structural design.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD, DDes, and/or professional licensure.
- Prior graduate teaching experience, particularly in areas integrating engineering and architectural design.

Position #2: Robotics Research Specialist I
Position Description
This position manages the day-to-day operations of the School of Architecture Robotics and Digital Fabrication Lab (RDF). The specialist supervises the operation of industrial robotics (KUKA, Universal robots), 3D printers, and other mechanical devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training: Provide training to TAs, students, and staff on equipment operation, safety, and lab techniques.
- Development: Design, prototype, and build mechatronic systems to improve lab equipment; contribute to the integration of new robotic end-effectors.
- Operations: Manage lab activities, safety procedures, and maintenance of equipment.
- Administration: Handle purchasing for the lab and adhere to university credit card policies.
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of experience OR Master’s degree and two (2) years of experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining digital fabrication equipment and robotics operations.
- Experience in training and instructing others on technical equipment.
