The University of Virginia School of Architecture is seeking two qualified candidates at the rank of general faculty to begin fall 2018. Ranked general faculty are equivalent to Professors of Practice with renewable appointments, benefits, and a teaching load of 60-100% full time depending on the appointment. All ranked general faculty members at UVA are expected to teach, work with the Chair of Architecture in developing curriculum, and serve on a range of School-wide committees, while vigorously pursuing an agenda of high profile design research and creative production.
The School of Architecture seeks applicants who have a demonstrated record of excellence teaching Architecture Design Studio at the graduate and undergraduate levels and the ability to teach lecture, seminar and/or lab courses in one of the following areas of specialization: (1) Architectural History, Theory and Analysis; (2) Urban Design, Landscape and Ecology; (3) Building Technologies and Environmental Systems; or (4) Advanced Digital Technologies. Candidates will also be expected to be contribute to the ongoing development of the School, its programs, and curricula. Successful candidates for this position will have an MArch. or equivalent with further experience and/or an advanced degree (post-professional Master’s degree, PhD. or equivalent) in their area of specialization.
