In recognition of the creativity and productivity of faculty, the Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA) at the University of Missouri made available $40,000 for faculty awards for the 2020-2021 academic year. The MAA supports the development of faculty research through the Richard Wallace Faculty Incentive Grants program.

Out of five recipients across campus, the Department of Architectural Studies boasts two award winners. Dr. Laura Cole received funding for her project entitled “Building awareness: Green building awareness and behaviors in the green residence hall,” which will examine undergraduate eco-knowledge and behaviors at the LEED-certified Gateway Residence Hall on the MU campus. Dr. Suyeon Bae was awarded support for her project entitled “Favorable hospital environments for patients and staff: An exploratory study,” a pilot study that will expand her healthcare research in the Missouri context.

Since its launch in 1994, the MAA has provided start-up funds of about $650,000 to more than 300 faculty members for the initiation of research or professional development projects.
