The School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Architectural Design. Associate Professor rank will be considered for candidates with an established record of accomplishments in research and teaching.

 

Architectural Design (full description and requirements)

The position carries equal responsibilities in research and teaching, with teaching obligations to include two design studios and one seminar/lecture course per year. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue active research and/or design agenda and to contribute to the civic life of the School, University, and community through service and engagement. Paths to impact for this position could include traditional scholarly research, design recognition through display, construction, and competition, or recognized community-partnered innovation.

 

Architectural Design: Computation (full description and requirements)

The position carries equal responsibilities in research and teaching, with teaching obligations to include two design studios and one seminar/lecture course per year. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue active research and/or design agenda and to contribute to the civic life of the School, University, and community through service and engagement. Paths to impact for this position could include traditional scholarly research, design recognition through display, construction, and competition, or recognized community-partnered innovation.

 

Architectural Design: Health & Sustainability (full description and requirements)

The position carries equal responsibilities in research and teaching, with teaching obligations including two design studios and one Health & Sustainability course per year. In addition, the individual will support the delivery of the school’s planned online health and built environment post-professional certificate. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue active research and/or design agenda and to contribute to the civic life of the School, University, and community through service and engagement. Paths to impact for this position could include traditional scholarly research, design recognition through display, construction, and competition, or recognized community-partnered innovation.

 

Architectural Heritage and Preservation (full description and requirements)

The position carries equal responsibilities in research and teaching, with teaching obligations at undergraduate and graduate levels, including graduate student advising at the Ph.D. and master’s levels. The person in this position will be expected to build an active program of scholarly research that connects with that of colleagues in the School of Architecture, the Department of Landscape Architecture, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, other units in the College of Fine and Applied Arts and across campus, attracting support through internal and external funding. Paths to impact for this position could include community outreach and engagement, community-partnered innovation, interdisciplinary and interagency collaborations, leadership in policy (trans)formation, scholarly research and publication, high-impact public communications, and other platforms and methods. This position will also support state and regional government interests and needs concerning contracted preservation and policy work.
