The UVA School of Architecture is seeking qualified candidates at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications, to join the Architecture faculty and participate in its innovative teaching and creative research. Applicants should be accomplished designers able to teach graduate and undergraduate architecture design studios in addition to required and elective courses focused on the integration of advanced digital fabrication, robotics, material technologies, or building performance.

Candidates should exhibit proficiency in advanced and emerging material and computational technologies and demonstrable commitment to rigorous design research and innovative curricula. We are searching for applicants whose areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, responsive and interactive systems, material technology, robotics in construction, data-driven building information modeling, and/or advanced visualization and simulation. Expertise in these areas is desired to enhance the School of Architecture’s focus on innovation in the design and ­craft of building.  In addition to exhibiting design excellence, we seek applicants with experience in cross-disciplinary, applied creative practice or applied research.  Faculty members at UVA are expected to teach, work with the Faculty, Chair, and Dean in developing curriculum, cross-disciplinary research initiatives, engage in service through a range of academic committees, and vigorously pursue an agenda of high profile design research, writing, and creative production. The committee seeks candidates for this position with a terminal degree in Architecture (MArch.) or related fields, with desirable experience including prior teaching, experience in practice and/or research laboratories, and/or an advanced degree in their particular area of specialization.
